Group Engagement Templates
Every successful engagement begins with a well-thought-out design, and this holds true for group engagements as well. The Engagement Templates section of our site has been updated to support group or team engagements
Access to Group Engagement Templates
You can find the Engagement Templates page on the Global Settings page, as illustrated below.
Global Settings Page
Group Engagement Templates Page
The Engagement Templates page now supports both 1:1 and group engagement templates. Tabs separate the template types, making it easy to navigate between them. Under the Group Engagement Templates a table provides the templates that have been created. The table includes the following information:

Creating a New Group Engagement Template
Step 1: Template Name
The first step in setting up a new template is to give it a name. Once you have entered a name, the 'Next' button will become active, allowing you to click it and proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Copy a Template or Start From Scratch
In the second step of the wizard, you can choose to create a template from scratch with a blank canvas or to jumpstart your new template by copying from an existing one.
Step 2B: Select an Existing Template
If you selected 'Copy an existing template and edit from there' in the previous step, you will now be able to choose from your existing group engagement templates. Simply select the template you wish to use as a starting point and click 'Next' to proceed.
Step 3: Theme Library Selection
In the next step, you can confirm or select a theme library to be associated with the template and future engagements.
Step 4: Session & Engagement Ratings
In this step, you can enable or disable session and/or engagement ratings, choosing any combination of these options as needed.
Step 4A: Session Ratings Configuration
If Session Ratings were enabled in the previous step, this stage allows you to configure the questions that will be asked after each session. Two of these questions are required (indicated with a lock icon), while the remaining questions are optional.
Step 4B: Engagement Ratings Configuration
If Engagement Ratings were enabled, this step allows you to configure the questions that will be asked upon completion of the engagement. Two of these questions are required (indicated by a lock icon), while the others are optional.
After this final step, the group engagement template will be saved and presented.
Editing the Group Engagement Template
Whether you started the template from scratch or based it on an existing one, there are new changes and functionalities to support group and team coaching.
Firstly, the page structure has been updated with three new tabs along the top: Engagement Details, Resources, and Settings. Previously, these tabs were represented as icons in the upper right corner. While the functionality remains the same, their visual placement has changed.
The second change involves the "+ Add Item" button. For group engagement templates, new menu items have been added:
Group Sessions: This type of session accommodates up to 50 coachees and up to 5 coaches in a single session. More information about group sessions can be found in the guide below.
1:1 Sessions: These are traditional sessions between a single coachee and a coach, but are included within the context of a group engagement. Additional details are available in the sections below.
Please refer to the expanded menu below to see these new types of sessions.
Both Group Sessions and 1:1 Sessions are crucial components of a group or team coaching engagement. While it's not mandatory to use both types within an engagement, the platform provides the flexibility to incorporate either or both as needed.
Group Sessions Within the Template
Group sessions are essential for group or team engagements, allowing up to 50 coachees and 5 coaches per session. While a cohort might be smaller, and fewer coaches might be required, the platform offers flexibility in how these sessions are utilized.
When you add a group session to the template, it will appear similar to a 1:1 session (as shown in the image below). However, you'll notice a distinction in the 'Attendees' section. The template settings include options for plural 'Coach(es)' and 'Coachee(s)'. Regardless of the actual cohort size and number of coaches, these roles will be included when the engagement is launched.
The 'Automate' option for session reminders and the 'Session Details' section for scheduling attributes function the same way as in 1:1 sessions, and will provide automated reminders to coachees and coaches. You can configure these details now, and they can be optionally modified after an engagement has been created from the template. Learn more about automation.
1:1 Sessions in the Engagement Template
1:1 sessions within a group coaching engagement allow coachees to meet individually with a coach as part of the broader group program. While 1:1 sessions in the template have a familiar appearance, please note the change in the 'Attendees' section for group engagements, where both 'Coach(es)' and 'Coachee(s)' are pluralized.
If both the 'Coach(es)' and 'Coachee(s)' checkboxes are selected, the composition of participants will determine the following when the engagement is launched:
Single Coach: If there is a single coach at the time of launch, the 1:1 session will be assigned to all coachees and the coach, assuming the coach will provide all the 1:1 sessions.
Multiple Coaches: If there are multiple coaches at launch, no coachees or coaches will be automatically assigned to the 1:1 sessions. This allows for discretion in matching coachees with the appropriate coach, which can be done after the engagement is launched.
If either the 'Coach(es)' or 'Coachee(s)' checkboxes are unchecked, assignments can be made within the engagement after it is launched.
Forms, Files, Tasks and Links Program Items within a Template
Other program item types, such as forms, files, tasks, and links, have distinct behaviors when used in a group or team coaching engagement. These items scale according to the number of assignees, making it easier to track their status. When added to a group or team coaching template, the 'Attendees' section is updated to include plural 'Coach(es)' and 'Coachee(s)'.
When the engagement is launched, if both the 'Coach(es)' and 'Coachee(s)' checkboxes are checked, the program item will be automatically assigned to the relevant participants.
Launching a Group or Team Coaching Engagement
Step 1: Select Engagement Type
Step 2: Cohort Selection
To support multiple coachees, the 'Select your cohort' step features a multiple-choice interface with a two-column layout. As coachees are selected in the left column, they will appear in the right column for organization and display. Additionally, there's a search bar in the left column for easy lookup of coachees.
Step 3: Coach Selection
Group and team coaching engagements may involve multiple coaches, so the coach selection step uses a multiple-choice format with a two-column layout. As coaches are selected in the left column, they will be added to the right column for organization and display.
Step 4: Selecting a Template
In this step, you will select a template for the engagement. All available group coaching templates will be displayed for your selection.
The remaining steps of the Engagement Wizard match the flow that is found when launching a 1:1 engagement and includes selecting a theme library.
