GENERAL INFORMATION

What is the Principles Coach Certification course?

Thank you for expressing your interest in the Principles Coach Certification course.

The Principles Coach Certification course consists of two sections: PrinciplesYou Certification and PrinciplesUs Enablement.

PrinciplesYou was built to help people learn about themselves—their key strengths, engagement styles, and motivations. Its creators include Ray Dalio (entrepreneur and investor), and expert psychologists Dr. Adam Grant, Dr. Brian Little, and Dr. John Golden.

30,000 individuals take the PrinciplesYou assessment each month. For this reason, the PrinciplesYou Certification was developed to empower coaches to administer individual debrief sessions post-assessment.

The insights provided by this course will give you the ability to debrief the assessment report and, through it, give your clients a deeper understanding of themselves, their strengths and weaknesses, and how to use self-awareness to engage more effectively in the meaningful projects in their work and lives.

Through a combination of self-study videos, readings, knowledge checks, and live practice sessions, you will learn:

  • Structure of the PrinciplesYou Assessment

  • PrinciplesYou personality preferences

  • Debriefing assessment

  • Delivering personality feedback

  • Exploration of interpersonal relationships

One of the main principles of the PrinciplesYou Certification course is the process of reflection and experimentation. So you’re constantly learning how to advance your skills and integrate your knowledge with clients along the way, rather than sticking with the model and training you’ve gotten and just doing that over and over again.

After you complete the PrinciplesYou Certification part, and become a PrinciplesYou Certified Coach, you have the opportunity to learn how to coach teams to elevate interactions using the PrinciplesUs platform, which provides valuable insights and comparisons into personality dynamics.

PrinciplesUs Enablement will give you a solid understanding of the core functionalities and features of the PrinciplesUs team platform and how it can be effectively incorporated into team coaching sessions.

What's the difference between the previous PrinciplesYou Certification program from Principles Coach Certification?

Principles Coach Certification is an expanded version of the program, which now includes the previous PrinciplesYou Certification with the addition of PrinciplesUs Enablement.

This expansion allows coaches to work not just with individuals but also with teams, leveraging insights into personality dynamics to enhance team interactions and performance.

What is the course structure?

The 8-module course spans over a 10-week period and employs a diverse range of effective learning techniques.

It combines:

  • 8 recorded self-paced learning modules with video content lessons, readings, case studies, self-exercises guides

  • 3 live hosted 60-minute Q&A sessions with Zack Wieder and Denise Clegg, creators of the course, to address your questions

  • 5 live 90–180 minute facilitated PrinciplesYou Practicum sessions with trained PrinciplesYou Certified Facilitators, ensuring a clear and experiential understanding.
You must attend all PrinciplesYou practicums live in order to graduate

  • 1 PrinciplesUs live session where you'll learn about the foundations of PrinciplesUs and gain a solid understanding of the core functionalities and features of the PrinciplesUs platform

  • 2 live 2-hour facilitated PrinciplesUs Practicum sessions with Zack Wieder and Denise Clegg

  • 2 self-guided Debrief Practice sessions to be conducted with someone from your circle

  • Final Assessment to test your knowledge and understanding at the end of the course

  • Online community for connecting with peers, sharing experiences, and asking questions in between

Are there any live sessions? Who will be hosting the live Practicum & Q&A sessions?

On top of the self-study modules, there are two types of live sessions available within the course:

  • The live Practicum sessions – facilitated by PrinciplesYou Certified Facilitators

  • The live Q&A sessions – hosted by Zack Wieder, Principles’ Chief Experience Officer, and Denise Clegg, an experienced executive leader, trainer, and coach.

They developed this unique Certification course to teach you how to facilitate debrief sessions for the PrinciplesYou assessments with individuals through a combination of theory-based and experiential sessions.

You will also have one live session about PrinciplesUs with Zack Wieder, introducing the PrinciplesUs team coaching platform and its features.

How is the PrinciplesYou assessment different from other personality assessments?

Principles assessment is grounded in scientific research in the field of personality psychology.

It holds validity across different cultures, as it has been designed to be applicable to a global audience and is not limited to only English-speaking populations.

Unlike other personality assessments, Principles both splits and expands beyond The Big Five traits other assessments usually anchor in.

Besides:

  1. Extraversion

  2. Agreeableness

  3. Emotional Reactivity

  4. Openness

  5. Conscientiousness

It expands into an additional 12 sub-traits and traits. These additional personality dimensions provide a comprehensive, actionable understanding of an individual's personality.

Thank you for reaching out!

I’m sending a short version of the sample report of the PrinciplesYou assessment.

You can also take the assessment yourself on this link and see all the details of the full online version of the assessment and its features.

Can I offer this Principles assessment to my clients?

Yes! You are welcome to offer this to your clients, and in fact, they can take it for free at principlesyou.com.

Can I use PrinciplesYou with my clients if I don't get certified?

The PrinciplesYou Certification program gives you the ability to debrief the assessment report and, through it, give your clients a deeper understanding of themselves, their strengths and weaknesses, and how to use self-awareness to engage more effectively in the meaningful projects of their work and lives.

Also, completing a PrinciplesYou Certification will open doors for you to debrief previous and new assessment takers by ensuring your profile is listed on the Coaching.com Principles Marketplace.

There are currently 1.5 million PrinciplesYou assessment takers to date and 30,000 new users a month yet to engage in a paid discovery session with a Certified PrinciplesYou Coach.

However, the assessment is available to all without charge, and individuals are free to take it and utilize it as they see fit—but without taking a course, cannot officially hold the title of a PrinciplesYou Certified Coach.

How many years has the Principles assessment been available?

The assessment was launched publicly in 2021.

To date, it has had over 1.5 million people take the test, and sees over 30,000 new test takers per month.

Is the Assessment available in any other languages?

The assessment has not been localized yet, but will be launching new languages in the near future.

I’m already certified in an assessment or have other training—how will this course help me?

Completing a PrinciplesYou Certification will open doors for you to debrief previous and new assessment takers by ensuring your profile is listed on the Coaching.com Principles Marketplace.

There are currently 1.5 million PrinciplesYou assessment takers to date and 30,000 new users a month yet to engage in a paid discovery session with a Certified PrinciplesYou Coach. And because you've previously been certified in another assessment, you'll pick up the new materials and be able to integrate the tools much more effectively.

Can I expect an ROI from this assessment? How has this course benefited coaches to justify ROI?

Thanks for the question. Here are a few ROI examples for you:

  • Following certification, you'll have the chance to register in the PrinciplesYou Marketplace, where you'll have paid opportunities to provide debrief sessions to new potential clients

  • Because 30,000 clients take this assessment monthly, we do expect the leads to come to the Marketplace on a regular basis

  • Conducting debriefs is a paid opportunity, and you'll also have the chance to offer further paid sessions if the debrief goes well and the client is seeking ongoing coaching

What does the business opportunity for coaches look like?

Great question! 30,000 people take this assessment monthly, and once they do, they’ll be directed to our PrinciplesYou Certified Coach Directory to select a coach to do a paid debrief with. This is where you'll have an exclusive listing.

Once the individual does a debrief with you and has a great experience, they’ll be invited to engage in further sessions with you as their coach.

For the initial debrief session, you'll receive 75% of the debrief rate, and 75% if clients purchase an ongoing extended package.

How much time will I need to invest to be successful in the course?

How many hours of live training is it per week?
How many hours of home study do you recommend?
