Welcome to On-Demand Coaching! The approach to coaching that puts the coachee in the driver's seat of their development journey. Here's everything you need to know to make the most out of this dynamic coaching experience.

What is On-Demand Coaching?

On-Demand Coaching, also known as Situational Coaching or Ad Hoc Coaching, changes the coaching experience by offering choice to coachees. When using our On-Demand Engagement feature, coaching program administrators are able to create and tailor pools of coaches that the coachee can select from when scheduling each session in the engagement. Coachees are able to select the right coach for their specific needs or challenges at any given time. For instance, a coachee may want to work with an expert in team alignment for one session and then switch to a coach specializing in diversity and inclusion for another.

On-Demand coaching can also be used in a traditional 1:1 coaching engagement by creating an engagement and assigning a coach to facilitate sessions when the coachee schedules with them. In this flow a coachee can schedule when they need to work with their coach on a specific topic vs having regularly scheduled sessions.

Benefits of On-Demand Coaching

1. Flexibility: Adaptability is at the core of On-Demand Coaching. Coachees can address diverse issues with tailored expertise, empowering them to navigate various challenges effectively.

2. Relevance: With the option to choose coaches based on specific situations, coachees engage in highly relevant conversations, maximizing the impact of each coaching session.

Getting Started with On-Demand Coaching

Engagement Setup

When initiating an engagement, you'll encounter three options: Assigned Coaching, Coach Matching, and the newest addition, On-Demand Coaching. This streamlined process ensures you're set up for success from the start.

Additionally, you can now create engagements on the fly, without the need for a Roadmap Template, based on the desired number of sessions and durations.

Selecting Coaches

In an On-Demand Engagement, you have the flexibility to handpick specific coaches, opt for a coach pool, or assign a coach to the coachee's engagement.

Engaging with Coaches

If you are not assigning a coach to the engagement your coachee can navigate to the Coaches tab within the Engagement Overview to explore available coaches and their profiles. This enables them to make informed decisions before scheduling sessions directly from the platform.

If you are assigning a coach to the engagement, the coachee will easily be able to schedule a session with their coach when they need it.

Session Topics and Topic Details

Session topics are a convenient way to tag a session based on themes. The topic details can be used to convey additional details about the intention for the session. In an On-Demand engagement, this may be especially important so that the coach has information prior to the session about planned discussions.

Session topics and topic details can be collected during the scheduling workflow on the confirmation dialog, as seen below.

Administrators can control whether the session topics and details are required, or not. By default, session topics and topic details are not required. However, a toggle within the engagement template settings, and the engagement settings allows for these attributes to be required by the coachee during scheduling (See below).

Engagement Details and Session Information

While administrators and coachees have comprehensive visibility into engagement details, when using the On-Demand feature, coaches will only see sessions they're involved in. This ensures a focused approach tailored to your unique coaching needs. When using a traditional engagement coaches will be able to see all sessions.

Enhanced Features

  • Engagement Items: As an admin you are able to create and add engagement items outside of sessions, and include automation to these items. Coaches and coachees can receive assignments in their engagement, enhancing efficiency and alignment.

  • Goals: Experience goal-setting functionality akin to 1:1 engagements, promoting transparency and collaboration among coaches within the On-Demand framework.

Conclusion

On-Demand Coaching empowers the coachee to take charge of their development journey. With its flexible, tailored approach and enhanced features, they are equipped to tackle challenges head-on and achieve their goals effectively.
